Young Eagles Win Season Opener
Bridgewater started 12 sophomores, nine juniors, and one senior against Averett on Saturday. Sophomore quarterback Hagan Driskell led the way with 12-of-23 passing for 187 yards and three touchdowns. BC running backs gained 137 yards on 28 carries, with Mount Union transfer Anthony Carter averaging 8.1 yards on seven rushes. Junior punter Tim Newman averaged 43 yards on eight punts. On defense, the Eagles held the Cougars to 14-of-37 passing and picked off two of their passes -- both returned for touchdowns. Freshman lineman Travis Marks (pictured) and sophomore linebacker TJ Montague recorded the two interceptions for scores. >> Box Score
